Rachel Berry

Rachel Barbra Berry is one of the main characters of Glee.. She is an alumni of William Mckinely High School as of the season three graduation episode, Goodbye. She had been the co-captain of New Directions alongside Finn Hudson ever since Mattress. She was one of the three major, self-proclaimed divas of the club; the others being two of her best friends; Mercedes Jones and Kurt Hummel.

Biography

Early life:

Rachel was a shining star from the day she was born, her very birth was out of love as Hiram and Leroy Berry wanted nothing more than to make their family complete by having a child. Both of her fathers spoiled her in the arts and she claims to have won her first dance competition at three months old. As a result she seems to have a high sense of self worth and she loves to be the center of attention.

Season 1

  Pilot

In pilot Rachel is first shown in glee club with previous teacher Sandy Ryerson who was fired for inappropriatly touching of a male student. When Mr. Schuester holds auditions Rachel performs On My Own from Les Miserables and as soon as she finishes she immediatly asks when rehearsals begin. Rachel gets easily angered by the other members in glee club and gets annoyed when she doesn’t get her way and not getting good enough music selections. This happened when they sang Sit Down, Your Rockin’ The Boat. However she seems to lighten up when Finn Hudson joins, with his good looks and skilled singing abilities she immediatly becomes attracted to him. The big problem about her feelings towards him is that he is dating Quinn Fabray who is Rachel’s nemsis. WhenFinn tries to leave the group to protect his popularity, she works hard to convince him not to go because she knows that he really does enjoy glee club. She calls him cliche. At the end of the episode she is seen singing Dont Stop Believin’ with the other glee club members.

  Showmance

In showmance Rachel starts to take a more active approach at trying to win Finn over, she does this by trying to do all she can to get Finn’s attention. This includes vomiting to try and make her thinner and joining the Celibacy Club, in the end neither plan works out for her. Later when the glee kids ignore Mr. Schue’s song selection of singing Le Freak at the assembly and instead perform Push It, by performing this song Rachel got the group in trouble not only with Will and Principal Figgins but it results in Quinn, Santana Lopez and Brittany Pierce joining the New Directions. While Rachel helps Finn practice his singing she plans a romantic picnic for them to enjoy. This leads to them sharing their first kiss which leads Finn to make a quick exit leaving Rachel hurt and confused.

  Acafellas

In acafellas the rift between Rachel and Mr. Schue carries on throughout this episode, especially whenRachel critizes Will for his choreography. This leads to Will leaving the New Directions as he loses his confidence and makes his own musical group, the Acafellas. Meanwhile Quinn convinces Rachel to hire award winning choreographer Dakota Stanley. Unfortunatly he costs $8,000 per song. The glee kids hold a car wash to earn the money, when they finally get the money they are soon horrified by how horrible Dakota is as he rejects and insults anyone in the group. When Dakota agrees to take the glee club and help them he immediatly insults anyone who is not perfect and attempts to kick them out of glee. This provokes the other kids to leave, but Rachel stops them and fires Stanley and finally says to him “and i’m taller than you” and then glances at Finn to see him smiling at her to which she smiled back.

  Preggers

In preggers Rachel’s diva side shows when Will gives Tina the solo in Tonight from West Side Story and her never ending jealousy gets the better of her. Will tell Rachel that the reason he gave Tina the solo was because he wants to boost Tina’s confidence and strengthen the whole group for regionals. Rachel then gets upset as Will is hurting her to make the other feel better. Sue Sylevester finds out about Rachel’s anger toward Will and the glee club and by manipulating Principal Figgins gets Sandy rehired as the head of the arts department which also allows him to run te school musical, Caberet. Sue convinced Sandy to give Rachel the lead in the musical. With Will still refusing to give Rachel the lead, Rachel quits glee club to join the musical.

  The Rhodes Not Taken

In rhodes not taken Rachel is currently in the musical and is continally getting insults off of Sandy about her talent and claiming that she could do better. Meanwhile Will has got someone in to replace Rachel, Apil Rhodes who is an old high school classmate that Will had a crush on back when he was in high school. Even though she is very talented, so is very irresponsible as she teaches the kids to drink and act up. April is a typical cougar as and voices a sexual interest in the much younger Finn to Rachel which infuriates her. Finn tries to get Rachel back, partly because of her talent and also because he misses her. This then leads on to their second kiss which in the end hurts Rachel and she realizes he did it to win himself a scholarship in music, this was so he could have a future for himself, Quinn and their baby. In the end Rachel cant take anymore of Sandy’s directing and truly misses the group, so she returns to glee club.

  Vitamin D

In vitamin d both Rachel and Finn are odds, when Rachel discovers that during a boys vs girls mashup competition the boys cheated by taking pseudoephedrine to enhance their performance. This was given to them by Terri Schuester to energize them. In order to help them win the girls take the same drug  which made them give a very energetic performance of Halo/Walking On Sunshine. After both groups perform Rachel and Finn both agree that it was wrong to take drugs in the first place and tell Will what they had done. This however causes a massive backlash on Terri Schuester which in the end gets a fired as the school nurse and gained glee a co-director, this of course was Sue Sylvester. She has no talent in the showbiz and only wants to detroy the glee club.

  Throwdown

In throwdown Sue’s reign as co-director only makes things much worse as Sue splits the kids up, taking the kids who dont get recognised enough and feels that Will neglects them over the others. Meanwhile Rachel having dicovered about Quinn’s pregnancy tries to keep the truth of it away from school reporter Jacob Ben Israel who has a massive crush on Rachel. Rachel offers her underwear in exchange for his silence. Even though Finn is grateful, Quinn reminds Rachel to stay away from Finn, in return Rachel tells Quinn that once the truth about her pregnancy is out Sue will not side with her, but her and the glee club with always be there for her. Rachel is then proven right and Quinn is thrown out of the cheerios. As Rachel promised, the glee club sing Keep Holding On who promise to be there for her no matter what.

  Mash-Up

In mash-up Rachel begins a relationship with fellow glee club member Noah Puckerman who after being convinced by his mother to find a nice jewish girl, he began to pursue Rachel romantically. Rachel loves how nice he is being and they make out one night, but Puck begins to feel that dating Rachel is making him lose his reputation. He also begins to understand how hard it must be for people like Rachel.
